Privacy Policy

Vyni is a ten-second video journal for iPhone. This page explains what stays on the device, which system features the app asks to use, and how a clip can leave the iPhone when you choose to share it.

The journal stays on this iPhone

Clips, drafts, notes, tags, places you type, cover frames, star marks, monthly reel order, export notes, Trash, and Clip Credit balance are stored in the app’s private folder for this installation. Vyni does not ask you to create an account, and it does not upload that journal to a service run for the app.

Sample clips shipped with the app are marked as samples. They are not your recordings.

Camera

The camera is used when you tap the shutter on the Record tab, to capture a clip of up to ten seconds. Wide switches to the ultra-wide lens when this iPhone has one, and off again returns to the standard wide lens. Flip changes between the back and front camera. The light control turns the back light on or off when the camera provides one. Brightness changes exposure for the current camera. Grid draws lines on the preview only; those lines are not recorded into the file.

Microphone and speech

The microphone records sound for a clip when you allow it. The same permission is used when you tap the note microphone, so a spoken note can be written into the text field. Speech recognition runs on this iPhone to fill that note. You can edit the text before saving. If you decline the microphone, the clip can still be recorded without sound, and the note can be typed.

Photos

Photo library access is used in two places you start yourself. Use a Video from Photos reads a video you pick. A video longer than ten seconds asks before copying, and can keep the first ten seconds. Save to Photos, or Save Film, writes a video you chose back into Photos. Vyni does not scan the library in the background.

Purchases

Clip Credits are consumable in-app purchases processed by Apple. A new installation starts with 5 Clip Credits. Confirming a new save uses 1 Clip Credit after the clip is stored and can be played. Updating a note, tags, or cover does not use another credit. A cancelled or failed save does not use one. Exporting the monthly reel uses 1 Clip Credit after the file is made. The price and credit count are shown on the pack before you buy. If a purchase does not finish, the balance stays the same.

When a file leaves this iPhone

Sharing uses the system share sheet for a film you choose to send. Export this month builds a temporary movie, opens the share sheet, and deletes that file when the sheet finishes. The app keeps a text note of the title, date, and clip lines. That note has no video. Deleting a clip does not delete the text note. Clear All Data does.

Reminders

If you turn on the evening reminder, the app asks for notification permission and schedules a local reminder on this iPhone. It does not send the journal to a push service.

Removing data

Delete on a clip moves its video to Trash for 7 days. You can restore it, delete one item now, or empty Trash. Clear All Data, at the bottom of Vault, asks twice. The second confirmation removes clips, drafts, reels, Trash, preferences, export notes, and remaining credits from this installation. Removing the app also removes that folder. Unused credits are not kept after the app or its data is removed.

Vyni does not use tracking, and it does not ask you to allow tracking across other companies’ apps and websites.
